VOIP in China

1/14/2006 06:14:00 PM, posted by anand

I'm taking my Packet 8 router to China. I read somewhere on the net that although China has banned Skype, it still doesnt block VOIP using Packet 8 and other such providers. I'll let you know the results soon.

Update: The VOIP adapter works like a champ. When I plugged in the Packet8 router, the power light started blinking, making me wonder whether the 110/240 V power is somehow screwed up, but after some Googling I figured that it was just acquiring an IP address. Give it a couple of minutes and it will stop blinking. So all ye road warriors, fear none and bring over your VOIP routers whenever you are in China/India. Believe me, it feels immensely powerful to be able to make unlimited US calls without worrying about the bill.
