Activating the China mobile SIM

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I couldnt activate the SIM using my own phone. Here is how you do it:

1. Call up 138001380000 from another mobile phone (not sure whether it has to be a China mobile phone. In my case it was a China mobile phone).
2. Register your new SIM/Phone number through that phone.
3. Enter the gazillion digit pin, to (re)charge your SIM. This gives you talk-time.

The booklet that comes with that SIM package is in chinese. Even their website is in chinese.

One of the first things that a traveler would do after getting off the plane, is to get mobile enabled. With more and more travelers coming to China, its important to make the SIM registration process as easy as possible. Maybe atleast either their booklet/website should be in English. oh btw, China mobile is the worlds largest wireless telecom company.
