Reached India

I reached India last Sunday, late in the evening. It was a great experience flying Singapore Air and Air Sahara. Both excelled in terms of service.

On my way from the International airport to the domestic terminal, I had a chat with the CISF jawan who was seated next to the driver of my inter-terminal coach. I asked him whether he had heard any news about privatizing the airport. He went on to tell me that there are about 3000+ CISF personnel deployed on the airport. Apart from the CISF personnel, there is Army, BSF, NCC and local police deployed as well. He said, that when the airport is privated, the company that takes over the airport will definitely cut the flab. So very true, even he realized that all these people are unnecessary to the functioning of the airport. Atleast half of the uniformed people seem idling away at the airport. There are more people put to work than actually needed.

In this country of around 1 billion people, there are people to be seen everywhere. When I say everywhere, I literally mean everywhere. As a country we need to get smart about how we use our people. We need to rethink our people strategy. People should be given tasks, they are best at doing. Let the machines do the monotonous boring tasks, let humans do more intelligent work.
