1930s
Aerospace contractors emerge around Moffett Field.

1940s
Hewlett-Packard brings electronics to the consumer market.

1950s and 1960s
Chip companies like Shockley Semiconductor Laboratory and Fairchild Semiconductor bring silicon to the valley.

1970s
Apple Computer starts the personal computing revolution, spawning an era of consumer hardware.

1980s
The network emerges, as such companies as Cisco Systems and Sun Microsystems help build the infrastructure that would link the world together on the Internet.
