Saturn not that far after all
8/12/2004 02:46:00 PM, posted by anandSo it turns out that Saturn is not exactly as far as I had imagined (literally!). In one of my earlier posts, I had metioned that Saturn is millions of light years away.
Well, Manishbhai corrected me and set the facts straight. A light year is about 6 trillion miles (5,850,000,000,000 miles). Distance of Saturn from Earth is 821,190,000 miles (821 million miles, approx). So Saturn is infact a bit closer and surprisingly can be viewed with the naked eye, though what you see is about 80 light minutes older image of Saturn.
Thanks Bhai!
